Not to mention you get to use the perks on your own trips.
So maybe you’re wondering just how to become a travel agent?
Really, I’ve found there’s three easy steps to take and you’re on your way to making dreams turn into real memories. After I went through these myself, I landed in an area that I absolutely adore. It’s been such a blessing.
How to Become a Travel Agent: Step-by-Step Assistance
Now, if you’re sure you’re ready to take the plunge these three steps are where I suggest you start. For me, they’ve created a solid foundation for my travel business. I’m sure they can do the same for you.
1) Pick a Specialty Area of Travel You Would Like to Assist With
Time for some fun! This is the step you’ll enjoy the most, as the point of it is to pick what type of trips you want to help people plan. Is it trips to Disney or Universal parks? Maybe some beautiful multi-coastal cruise line trips? I’ve really enjoyed helping people plan European and other overseas vacations. These are my favorite trips myself, so I really get into the planning.
2) Take the Time to Research Different Host Agencies You Can Join
First off, what’s a host agency? These are companies that you can team up with and they’ll get you access to tickets and adventures you can’t get on your own. When you pass these savings onto the person you’re booking for, you get a friend for life. Which is fantastic because the chances of them using you again for travel planning is much higher.
You can find “megahost” host agencies that can assist you with several types of travel trips. This can be extremely convenient to have it all under one roof. Plus, they have awesome resources for you.
3) Schedule Out a Quarter Year at a Time for Maximum Success
Once you’ve found your helper agency, the thing I recommend doing is planning a whole quarter out for your “travel agent chores”. This will help keep you on pace to grow your business and succeed.
When you’re building out your schedule make sure to add days where you’re reaching out to the people you know currently. Let them know what you’re doing and ask if you can get their email so you can send them good trip deals you find.
You’ll also want to spend time joining networking events so you can grow your network. The more people you connect with the more chances you have to help someone plan a fantastic vacation.
Three Simple Steps and You’re Helping People to Travel
How to become a travel agent really has never been easier when you take it on with a host agency. These companies get you access to exclusive packages and deals you just can’t get on your own. When you narrow the type of travel trips you’re booking you can find some host agencies with excellent bonuses. After you’ve done this way you’re on to scheduling, networking, and success!
