Where to stay

Those traveling to attend the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, can stay in the city and easily travel to the race track in Montmelo using public transport. Barcelona has many hotel options, so you’ll find one whatever your budget. Plus, the city offers great restaurants and multiple cultural options for sightseeing.

Another option is staying in one of the towns or villages on Spain’s Costa Brava. But we recommend you check out transportation options to and from the circuit before booking your accommodation. Campsites are available at the circuit and some have pre-pitched tents.

How to arrive at the race venue

The GP of Barcelona will be held in the Circuit of Barcelona-Catalunya, in a small town called Montmelo, 20 km from the city center. There is a train that departs from three stations in Barcelona: Sants, Passeig de Gràcia, or Clot. The train journey lasts around 30 minutes and you need to get off at Montmelo station, the nearest stop to the F1 race circuit.

Another option is taking a shuttle bus between the rail station and the F1 Circuit on the weekend of the event. There will be a bus service operating from Barcelona Nord bus station to the race venue organized by a company called Sagalés. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes.

Race weekend tips

  • The sun is strong in Spain in May, so consider this when selecting seats to watch the race and pack for the trip.
  • The food and drink options are expensive at the race venue! So we recommend you bring your beverages from a local supermarket, just avoid refreshments in cans or glasses.
  • Many people bring earplugs or earmuffs to watch the race without feeling distressed by the noise produced by the cars, which can be extremely loud.
