Why are there two types of Roulette?
There are two types of Roulette wheels and table layouts, due to a game either containing a double zero pocket on the wheel or not. These are called European and American Roulette.
When Roulette first hit the casino floor in France, it contained single and double zero pocketed compartments within the wheel, along with numbers 1 – 36. Over time, two brothers, Louis and Francois Blanc decided to take away the double zero from gameplay, reducing the house edge to rival their casino competitors. This was a big hit with players and was soon known as the European variant of Roulette.
When Roulette crossed the seas and arrived in America, players preferred a higher house edge with the double zero pocket in play. This became known as the American variant.
With the power of technology, players are able to choose which variant they wish to spin online.
How many numbers are on a Roulette wheel?
This all depends on which game variant you’re playing. The European wheel contains a total of 37 numbers, whereas the American wheel contains 38. This is due to the use of the double zero found within the American wheel.
What are the numbers in a Roulette wheel?
No matter which variant of wheel you spin, there will always be numbers 1 –36 on the wheel, the only difference is the number of zeros found.
What order do the numbers get displayed within a Roulette wheel?
European wheel: 0 – 32 – 15 – 19 – 4 – 21 – 2 – 25 – 17 – 34 – 6 – 27 – 13 – 36 – 11 – 30 – 8 – 23 – 10 – 5 – 24 – 16 – 33 – 1 – 20 – 14 – 31 – 9 – 22 – 18 – 29 – 7 – 28 – 12 – 35 – 3 – 26.
American Wheel: 0 – 28 – 9 – 26 – 30 – 11 – 7 – 20 – 32 – 17 – 5 – 22 – 34 – 15 – 3 – 24 – 36 – 13 – 1 – 00 – 27 – 10 – 25 – 29 – 12 – 8 – 19 – 31 – 18 – 6 – 21 – 33 – 16 – 4 – 23 – 35 – 14 – 2.
What colour are the numbers within the wheel and on the table?
On the wheel, the zeros sit within green-coloured pockets, and the background of the zeros on the table layout appear green too.
The numbers, however, alternate from red to black around the wheel, but these aren’t in numerical order. On the table layout, the numbers will be arranged in numerical order, with red or black backgrounds depicting the colour they represent on the wheel.
