Medium density fiberboard (MDF) is generally a high-density material made of resins and wood fiber. The wood fibers are pressed into the resin to bind them together. MDF is inexpensive, but apart from it, this material is known for its strength and durability.

 Therefore, MDF can be used differently and is suitable for any type of wooden work, whether it’s furniture, doors, cabinets, etc. But, choosing the right MDF cut to size is essential whatever kind of work you perform. It ensures that the MDF sheet you are using is perfect in size.

Making a straight cut

  • To make a straight cut, firstly, unplug the table saw and attach the sturdy blade with a circular saw. Remember, the speed should be between 3000 to 3500 m/sec, and the blade should have 50 to 80 teeth.
  • Now attach MDF boards to the large solid table. Ensure that the piece you need to cut is hung over the table’s edge. You can use bolts to hold the MDF board in position.
  • After which, use a woodworking tape and start creating lines in the area you need to cut. First, double-check the line length and alignment level using tape as you need to cut the wood. 
  • Now take the circular straw and start moving in the direction marked area. Keep the speed gradual and stable.

  • You can use a jigsaw to make curved cuts on the MDF sheets. Then, unplug the device and install narrow blades with numerous small teeth.
  • Secure the MDF sheet on the hard surface. If the area, you need to cut it in the middle and then lay it down on a straight table. You can use big clamps to avoid sliding.
  • Now use a pencil and start marking the areas you need to cut.
  • Cut over the marked area using a jigsaw. Make sure you use the tool gradually and slowly as MDF is quite dense.
