Gadar 2 box office collection day 27: Sunny Deol’s film just Rs 34 crore shy of beating Pathaan’s record, Jawan to hamper its smooth run

Gadar 2 box office collection day 27: Starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, the film has earned Rs 509.09 crore at the box office, but will face big competition against Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan after today.

Sunny Deol-starrer Gadar 2 has enjoyed a great theatrical run for almost four weeks now, but it will be impacted by the release of the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan today. On Gadar 2’s final day with no competition, it made Rs 2.92 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. This takes the film’s overall nett collection in India to Rs 509.09 crore.

Gadar 2 is the second-highest grosser in India so far, behind another SRK-starrer, Pathaan, which made Rs 543.05 crore at the domestic box office upon its release in January. Gadar 2 is trailing Pathaan by only Rs 33.96 crore and it seems unlikely that it will cover that amount this weekend. But, the film’s lifetime collection might take it to the top spot.

With Jawan releasing in theatres on Thursday, Gadar 2’s collections are expected to witness a significant drop. The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer is expected deliver an opening of Rs 65-70 crore, the biggest opening ever for a Hindi film. Jawan is getting a pan-India release, and with the involvement of director Atlee, and actors Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, it is expected to get a big opening in Tamil Nadu as well.

In a recent chat with Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma spoke about the release of Jawan and said that the audience will enjoy both films. “I don’t know what the industry will say about the film, but it is going to be such a mass entertainer. The music, dance and dialogue baazi especially is looking good, very likable. I am an SRK fan, and I am going to watch the movie. Badi acchhi lag rahi hai film (the film is looking very good). I’ll watch it on the first day itself,” he said.
