If, like many people you don’t have much confidence in your appearance, it can get you down. However, you should be aware that when you see in the mirror is not what other people see, especially those that love you. 

But what can you do to feel more confident about your appearance? You can find some tips below that could help:

Consider What Your Triggers Are 

Do you feel less confident about your appearance when you spend time with certain people? You could even feel less confident if you don’t see a specific group of people. 

The media is often responsible for people’s negative perceptions of themselves. Remember, most of the photographs that you see have been airbrushed. The models have access to makeup artists and lighting. They don’t look as glamorous when they’re not working, only when you see them in a magazine. The same goes for singers, actors, and anyone else in the public eye. 

Deal With The Easy Things

Some people don’t feel confident because they don’t look as good as they think they should. However, there are some easy solutions to a lack of confidence. For example: 

  • You may want to get a new haircut as it could help you to feel better.
  • You could always enhance your smile if you’re not happy with your teeth.
  • Shopping for a new wardrobe can help. You don’t have to buy brand new clothes if you don’t want to. Many goodwill stores sell perfectly good clothes, some of which are almost as good as new. 
  • Losing or gaining weight may help you to feel better. Please speak with your doctor if you’re struggling with your weight, it’s important for your mental health that you do. 
  • Consider exercising if it’s not something you do regularly. Exercising in moderation can help you to look and feel better. It can help you to tone up and have more confidence in yourself. 

If another person is making you feel bad about the way you look, consider spending less time with them. Some people are good at bringing others down. This is a reflection of who they are rather than yourself. Spending less time with people who make you feel bad can help you.
